The fourth Condottieri subclass was likewise a two ship group. The Duca d`Aostas added more armor and increased engine capacity over the Montecuccolis, and shifted the boiler arrangements. Also sacrificed for speed were the torpedo banks. The Duca d'Aostas shared the same issues with the armoring scheme as the previous group. Despite this, both ships survived the war, one going to Greece and the other to the Soviet Union as reparations.
