Worklist for update 1.5

Rules 1.5.9 look pretty good. Big thanks for the updates!
The things we really liked:
- streamlined air war (initial air attack is deadly now - not sure if it is "too" deadly, we'll see)
- updated/generalized scouting
- detailed description of the advanced commands (in the past we sometimes had trouble figuring out when exactly some of them could be used)
We are still testing the 1.5.9 flight fuel system. Player has to be super careful with fuel especially during scouting. When a flight has 2 fuel it should not be assigned to scouting because it will not able to move back home and it will crash. This means normal flights can only spend 1 turn scouting (loiters 2 turns). Since there is only 50% scouting success probability, scouting seem to "cost" a lot. Finding the enemy in a hidden deployment scenario takes pretty long. What was your experience?
A few minor questions and typos:
page 7: Intiative phase / Scouting ships
"It CAN also perform a compulsory movement in the remaining actions phase". Does "can" mean the player is allowed to decide not to move?
page8: Preparations phase / Launch and land carrier aircraft
"Note that you cannot lauch more than the listed capacity of the carrier [...]". I think best is to emphasize "land/lauch capacity" because this may confuse some readers.
page9: The activations phase / Basic activations / Maneuver activations
"[...] ship or squadron cannot change speed or heading [...]". You mentioned this is leftover from older versions, ships can indeed change speed, have to move AT LEAST half of max speed.
page32: Carrier Clash / Which side is the attacker
I was wondering why rolling to decide who is the attacker in this scenario. Everything seems symmetrical.
Coral Sea OOB:
Some commadner cards in the OOB doc are old ones with old values. You may want to update them with the latest.
And thanks for all the updates, the game was pretty good initially, but it still keeps getting better!

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will respond to it in a few days when I have more time to check things and such.
I really appreciate the time you are taking to read through the rules and find those annoying ambiguities and errors. It really improves the quality of the set.
I do think that it is about time to replace 1.4 with the 1.5 version. This will not mean an end to development, as a 1.6 thread will get started the next day, but after taking a look at the 1.4 set a while ago I realized how much has changed. Time to consolidate I think(?).

Purely cosmetic, I could also have just used 'player A' and 'player B', but because the other scenarios also have attackers and defenders I thought I would just keep it so. In this scenario there is no advantage to be either.

Are you sure you are looking at the latest Coral Sea OOB? It seems to me the commander cards are identical to those in the .zip file?

Thanks for the updates.
About scouting:
On Page 7: Scouting aircraft it says flights can scout hidden tokens 30cm away, but on page 28: Search roll it says 15cm. I think 30cm is better to help scouting a bit and make the process shorter.
A minor thing: on page 7: Shadowing ships you say to remove the scouting token after playing an evasion. Does that mean the ship is free of activation restrictions after this? If not, then I think the token should not be removed as a reminder it is a restricted ship.

You are right - actually I got confused that Fletcher has 2 different data cards. I guess that was intended because he was promoted during the war.

Have you maybe had to chance to look at these?
One more tiny thing: On page 31 "Pre-game movement" you mention scouting special rule. Afaik you removed it, so this should be updated. I saw another reference in the manual to the scouting special rule, but cannot find it for the second time

All done, saved as 1.5.11. I took some extra time to add examples for air movement. Thank you!

As I will ready the files for publishing, I'll close this topic. Everyone who provided feedback for version 1.5 has my gratitude! As Naval War is a living ruleset, it is supposed to have regular updates. Version 1.4 has been about 2 years ago, so it is time to release version 1.5 to the rest of the players. Much has improved and changed for the better. Do not stop providing suggestions and feedback, as any further large changes will be added to version 1.6. I will start a 1.6 development thread after I finish publishing 1.5.
