Have you thought about allowing Japanese vessels armed with Long Lance and reloads to be able to do so? From what I have seen normal practice was for the destroyer to leave the action for about 25-30 minutes. I would think that the cruiser relaods would be quicker as their launchers were mostly enclosed.

Hello Andrew,

I've thought about this several times early in development, but decided against it. First, I have not yet found any explicit reference of japanese torpedoes being reloaded in a combat situation. It seems that the japanese very rarely, if ever, used it during a battle. Secondly, this would be fatal to the japanese from a balance and point cost perspective. They already pay a premium for their long lances, having to double that for a once-in-a-dozen games ability (since Long lance DD's have a tendency to blow up being a prime target) would very much unbalance their fleets since you might not need the DD's for their torpedoes in the first place (ASW or AA escorts).

The thing is such a minefield with a lot of hassle for something that has such thin historical precedent (lot of battles were did not even last 30 mins, leave alone long enough to disengage, reload and reengage) that I decided to leave it alone altogether :)

Understand. And as far as I can tell there were only one or two instances when it actually happened. Why make a rule on the exception rather than the norm.
