Hello all,
I have been a fan of military history, especially ww2. I was most interested in fighters and air combat. Lately, I started focusing towards naval war - especially ww2 battleships (how can someone not awe these monsters ).
I found this site when trying collect ideas to design my own ww2 naval warfare card game (abstracting maneuvers is not an easy task ). The more I surfed this site, the more I got sucked in. I almost never register to sites (don"t even have a FB profile), but this site really seemed interesting so I registered and downloaded all its treasures. I am a total newbie to miniature gaming, so yesterday I played my very first miniature game with very-very basic rules (2 vs 2 large ships, no air, no torpedoes, no advanced activations). I really liked it! I've read the manual several times, but some details are still blurry - I may have a few questions in the forum later. See you all there.
In the end I'd like to give a big thanks to Mr. Seijmonsbergen for putting so much effort and detail into such a great game!

Thank you for your nice post! There is no greater reward to have people playing your game and enjoying themselves.
Feel free to post any questions on the rules forum, I'll be happy to answer them. Where needed I can adjust the wording in the rulebook or clear stuff up, that's the great thing about having a living ruleset

Hello, we've played a few games and a few practical questions arose. I will ask them in the rules development - one-by-one per thread. I think separating questions vs having a general thread (such as "a few questions") helps when others are searching the forum. If you think separating questions into separate threads would "spam" the forum, let me know - I will group them into one thread.

Would you like to give some more info about your gaming group? It's interesting to hear some more about the composition, experience etc.

Sure. Our "group" is our family. We have a history of playing board games for quite some time. I was addicted to board games as a kid. In the past few years most popular board games we were playing are: Axis and Allies series, Age of Empires 3 board game, Twilight Struggle, Rising Sun, 7 wonders, San Marco, etc. We like customizing games, most notably Axis and Allies series - to make it more balanced and add depth (such as introducing seasons, terrain, generals, battle mechanics etc.).
Half a year ago I started designing a custom naval war card game just for our fun. I wanted a game that we can easily take when we go for vacation (no big boards and such). I had a general idea how it should work and looked around the internet for more ideas and details. This is how I found Naval War. This was our first miniatures game. When I started digging into it, I liked it a lot, so we started playing. The card game was put on hold. So far, we played about 15 full scale battles of Naval War and quite a few mini-games for testing and balancing ideas. We tried to gain experience for some months before coming to the forums - then I unleashed all our collected questions and suggestions . Some of the suggestions I've written in these forums were already adapted in our games.
