I did the replay of the 2nd Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. My mighty Yamato never even got a shot off, the entire action was resolved by the torpedoes. Do you think it is too easy to hit with torpedoes? Admittedly this comes after launching 27 torpedoes (3 Fubukis worth) at the Washington and South Dakota and still having them afloat at the end. They both had 6 floods and the Washington was crippled, so that was that. What about using the speed to determine the number to hit? ie speed 10 or less 4+, 15 5+, 20 6+?

That would pose some problems with smaller ships that are already harder to hit. Hzave you tried combing the torpedoes? Working as intended I would think if you get close enough to attract 27 Long lances

It was a night action and I managed to disperse/sink the US destroyer screen. The US player was low on order tokens and I was able to wait untill he was out and did a flank speed move to get in range and then let loose with everything the 3 destroyer squadron had.
In an article where someone had analyzed how many torpedoes the Japanese surface fleet is supposed to have fired with the amount of recorded hits throughout the war and the figure calculated was a 3% success rate, it may have been a USN report, I can't remember. My feeling is that it should be very hard to hit with a torpedo, but if you do it is pretty damaging. In the historical 2nd Battle of Guadalcanal, Washington and South Dakota were never hit by any of the torpedoes launched by the Japanese destroyers.
My other thought was making torpedoes only hit on a 6, with bow/stern aspect, destroyers, and the long lance extended range portion reducing the hits by half. What are your thoughts on that?
